Mehdi Majd-Amin was born in Teheran/Iran. He studied painting and graphic arts with the Iranian painter and art historian Tajwidi as well as miniature painting and calligraphy at the Teheran University.
From 1982 to 1988 he studied painting, design and decorative painting with Klaus Krause, Dieter Reinhard Braun and other professors at the Berlin Academy of Arts (Hochschule der Künste) in Berlin. After graduating he has been living in Berlin as a freelance painter ever since, regularly exhibiting his works in galleries and public institutions in Germany as well as abroad.
In the past 15 years he has also turned to be an organiser and curator of larger group exhibitions. Since 1999 he is directing Galerie Mani (together with the musicologist and orientalist Dr. Angelika Jung) as an intercultural Centre for Arts and Music.
